The Theldeniya Magistrates Court today (12 Jan.) remanded Saliya Perera, a member of the Kundasale Pradheshiya Sabha (PS), belonging to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), and another person in connection with the current theft of the Sandagala (moonstone) from the Uda Malwa (Upper Deck) Archaeological Reserve in Kundasale.Perera was remanded with another specific recognized as Roshan Kandanagae, a homeowner of the Mahawala area in Kundasale, who is thought to have actually concealed the Sandagala at his residence.The duo have been remanded till 25 January.Four individuals have been jailed over the occurrence so far, Sri Lanka Police reported, including that more arrests are due to be made in this regard, while the 3 automobiles believed to be involved in the incident have actually also been taken into police custody.The artifact, however, is yet to be recovered.The Sandagala (moonstone) was stolen from the Uda Malwa (Upper Deck) Archaeological Reserve in Kundasale on 14 December 2022, after a group burglarized the museum.Subsequently, the Archaeology Department had actually lodged a grievance with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), following which an investigation was launched.Probes caused the arrest of the very first suspect, determined as Dushan, in Kegalle, along with a Defender, while initial examinations exposed that the suspect had been in the taken automobile at the museum at the time of the event.
