The Fort Magistrates Court today (13 Jan.) ordered the Police Special Crimes Division to record a declaration from previous President Gotabaya Rajapaksa pertaining to the countless rupees in money discovered at the Presidents House during mass demonstrations on 09 July 2022.

The money was found by protesters on the 09 July 2022, when they stormed the governmental house during mass anti-government protests.At least Rs.

17.5 million in money was turned over to the Fort Police by the protesters who were at the governmental house on that day, which was subsequently turned over to the Fort Magistrates Court 3 weeks later.Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, nevertheless, ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct an investigation into the hold-up by the cops in handing over the cash, stating that there was affordable doubt as to why the Fort OIC postponed the matter.
