CHENNAI: An act of revenge turned a normal man into a murderer, and a reformed, history-sheeted double-murderer himself became a murder victim, in Madhavaram on Monday.P Sathish Kumar was seven years old in 2001, when his father Prabakaran was murdered by a history-sheeter, Sezhian.

Sezhian was then a history-sheeteroperating in the Kodungaiyur area, brewing arrack.After coming out on bail, Sezhian murdered Prabhakaran’s brother also.

He was tried and convicted for the cases and spent 15 years in jail.

Ever since his release in 2018, he was leading a reformed life, working in a welding unit, police said.

But, Sathish Kumar, who has been living a ‘normal’ life as a family man earning a livelihood by working as a water can supplier decided to avenge the murder of his father and uncle.On Monday night, he and his four of his associates, hacked the 52-year-old Sezhian at Vadaperumbakkam, near Madhavaram.

After they fled the scene, passerby alerted police about an injured man lying on road.

Sezhian was moved to a hospital, where he succumbed his injuries later in the night.Investigations by the Red Hills police revealed the involvement of Sathish Kumar in the murder.

The victim, Rahul Kumar, was found dead with head injuries near his home.

The accused, Raju Kumar, reportedly hit Rahul with a brick and fled the scene.

Rahul had a history of alcohol-fueled fights with his family and had been involved in multiple criminal cases.

Initially, the family did not file a complaint, but eventually, the deceased's mother lodged an FIR for murder.

Police have formed teams to apprehend the accused.
