NEW DELHI: African-American actress and singer Mary Millben on Saturday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's blessings by touching his feet.

PM Modi was addressing the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC where Millben gave everyone goosebumps by singing the Indian national anthem.As soon as she finished singing 'Jana Gana Mana', Mary walked towards the Prime Minister on the stage and touched his feet.

She also greeted PM Modi with folded hands after a brief interaction.Union earth sciences minister Kiren Rijiju shared a short video on Twitter about the African-American singer's gesture of respect towards PM Modi.Expressing her admiration for PM Modi, Mary said, "I am so honoured to be here.

The PM is such a wonderful and kind man.

It was an honour to be a part of his State visit this week.

I loved hearing the crowd sing the National Anthem.

You could hear the passion in all of their voices.

True honour to be here tonight," she said.Mary took to her official Twitter handle to express her love for India and Indian communities across the world."A night I will treasure forever.

God bless the US-India alliance," she wrote.Earlier in May, Papua New Guinea PM James Marape too touched the feet of PM Modi, when he arrived in the island nation after attending the G7 Summit in Japan.PM Modi was hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for a State dinner at the White House.

He also addressed the joint US Congress on Thursday.After concluding his four-day State visit to the United States, PM Modi on Saturday departed for Egypt.

The Prime Minister is visiting Egypt at the invitation of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which he extended in January 2023 when he graced India's Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest.
