Dahal to back NC prospect for president. KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 25Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today stated that the 8 celebrations understanding to support Nepali Congress prospect for president reflected nationwide agreement as they were the signatories of the 12-point agreement and the forces that owned up the federal democratic republican order with inclusive democracy. National agreement need to for president: DPM Shrestha Within a brief span of 2 months, I felt uneasy being a partner in the seven-party alliance.

I kept remembering Girija Prasad Koirala, the other signatory to the peace procedure and realised I had to play a role to safeguard the political changes, Dahal stated, We have our shares of ups and downs in our relations, but lastly I have concerned the right location, Dahal stated about his choice to create brand-new alliance with the NC and other parties. He stated the UML would now choose to sit in the opposition, but it had already got the post of speaker and now as the NC was in the process of getting the post of president, the existing deal showed nationwide agreement as it engaged all forces in the political process. He hoped the NC candidate for president Ramchandra Paudel, a veteran democratic leader, would remain committed to democracy and work to protect nationwide interests.

Dahal said he informed CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli the other day to support the NC prospect for president to make him the national agreement candidate, but Oli refused. The PM said former king Gyanendras declaration on Democracy Day made him understand that the seven-party alliance was not in the interest of the nation.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party, which promotes constitutional monarchy belonged to the seven-party alliance.

Mentioning that any alliance forged for desire of power does not last long, Dahal stated if he appreciated power, he had no reason to be disappointed with the existing alliance that vowed assistance, but to safeguard the political gains - federal republican order, democratic constitution and to conclude the peace procedure - a brand-new alliance of eight political celebrations was required.

Dahal said the significance of the new alliance had increased even more now as regressive forces were attempting to hinder the present political process.NC leader and previous deputy prime minister Bimalendra Nidhi said although his father Mahendra Narayan Nidhi took part in the NC-led armed disobedience against Rana rule in 1950, he pursued tranquil politics post- 1950 movement. He stated his celebration had made course correction by helping form the coalition of eight parties. Those forces that concluded the peace procedure have come together to choose the brand-new president.

A long journey has started to conclude the peace process and protect the political gains, Bimalendra Nidhi said.A variation of this short article appears in the print on February 26, 2023, of The Himalayan Times .
