BHOPAL: When two fight, the goat wins.

Sanjay says he reared the goat but it went missing around six months ago.

The goat was kept at the police station and they were told to come with proof of ownership," Civil Lines police station in charge, Harendra Nath Sharma, told TOI.

"The next day, they came with pictures of the goat.

The photos looked similar and the dispute intensified," he said.

"It was difficult for us to keep the goat at the police station so we decided to keep it safely with a third person till the matter is resolved.

The corporator of the area, where both claimants live, was called in.

But the two men reached an agreement that the goat can stay with Sanjay till the matter is resolved," Sharma said."The goat is now a part of investigation and both men have been instructed that the animal should not be harmed or killed till the matter is resolved.

They agreed to this in writing.

Only then was the animal handed over to Sanjay on Thursday evening.

They have since sent pictures of the goat and it is in good health," Sharma added.
