NEW DELHI: They may not have managed to bring the Cup home, but Team India's unbeaten run before the final, which saw many players stepping up to do the job, led Rohit Sharma - Co's dominance in ICC's Team of the Tournament announced on Monday.

India won 10 matches in a row (the semi-final and nine league games), but the match that mattered the most was sealed by Australia who were the better team in the final on Sunday at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Virat Kohli won the 'Player of the Tournament' award for his 765 runs in 11 matches, while Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in 7 matches.

Virat and Shami are among the six Indian players in ICC's Team of the Tournament, with Rohit (captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper-batter), Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja being the other four.

Champions Australia, who lifted their record-extending sixth ODI World Cup trophy, are represented by all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and leg-spinner Adam Zampa among the eleven players picked by the ICC.

India's bowling, which had been the talk of the town in their 10 consecutive wins before losing in the final, had no answer to the skills of Australia opener Travis Head, who scored a 120-ball 137 to take his team to victory with seven overs to spare.

Head added 192 runs with Marnus Labuschagne (58) after Australia's run-chase started on the wrong note, losing three wickets for just 47 runs.
