TEHRAN In a meeting with the Azerbaijani Presidents diplomacy assistant Hikmet Hajiyev on Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed that maintaining the sovereignty of regional countries remains a foundation of Iran's foreign policy. He alerted that any effort to alter borders is entirely undesirable and warned against foreign disturbance, which he said threatens local stability.
Pezeshkian likewise highlighted Iran's commitment to enhancing ties with neighboring and Islamic countries, mentioning that Tehran looks for greater unity among Muslim countries.
Beyond fostering internal uniformity, we are devoted to broadening relations with our next-door neighbors and Islamic allies due to the fact that any division amongst Muslims invites external powers to exploit and create discord, he said.
