NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading in positive zone with SP BSE Telecom index up 0.49 per cent at 993.27 around 12:25 pm on Tuesday.
Shares of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 16.43 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 3.80 per cent), Tejas Networks (up 1.66 per cent) and GTL (up 1.59 per cent) were top performers in index.
Vindhya Telelinks (up 1.45 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.40 per cent) and Aksh Optifibre (up 1.02 per cent) too were trading with gains.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 27.40 points at 10,835.15 while BSE Sensex was down 85.68 points at 35,982.65.
Among 50 stocks in Nifty index, 16 were trading in green, while 34 were in red.
Shares of Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Hindustan Construction Company, JP Associates, Bank of Baroda, Vakrangee, South Indian Bnk, YES Bank, SBI, Adani Power, Spicejet, UCO Bank, HDIL, IFCI, Suzlon Energy and Bank of India were among most traded shares on NSE.
