TEHRAN- The chief of the UNs nuclear guard dog has emphasized the need of restarting negotiations to conserve the 2015 Iran nuclear contract, stating that failure to do so would result in a quick degeneration of the situation.Rafael Grossi mentioned on Tuesday that while progress is not impossible, the diplomatic effort to restore the nuclear agreement, or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is not at its best position.
During a speech at the London-based Chatham House think tank, he said, I want to have the ability to re-set, restore, and deepen that important discourse.
If we do not do that, things will just grow worse.
Grossi stated that in spite of the deadlock in the negotiations, he was still hopeful for success.
I would not misery in the sense that the JCPOA can not be revived, he added.
Im not saying yes JCPOA or no JCPOA.
The essential thing is to keep the non-proliferation guideline strongly in place, therefore we will see, he stated.
The next couple of weeks and months will be crucial to determine whether there is a possibility.
In other parts of his remarks, Grossi revealed sadness at the disclosure of private details regarding Irans Fordow nuclear plant and stated that the agency lacked the tools necessary to manage and keep an eye on the situation.Although he stated that the company takes rigorous procedures to protect sensitive reports, he called it difficult and difficult to manage the flow of details.
