Politician and former TV actress Smriti Irani has still been remembered and celebrated as Tulsi from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
The actor-turned-politician recently opened up about her perspective and journey with the show.
In a podcast, Smriti shared how she got replaced from the show, her journey as an actor and more. When she was asked about Ekta Kapoor's quote, 'She opened the door and India walked in', Smriti said, "You know what is interesting is that they changed who opened the door. They brought in another actor.
There were people who presumed that 'If she is opening the door then anyone can do it and people will watch.' I am saying this because when it happened, it happens to everyone who succeeds.
You come to a point in time when people think success should not be attributed to you."Smriti also spoke about how Tulsi garnered a lot of love, "I think that there is a relationship that happened with the audience.
The actor part of my journey cannot be attributed as a success only to me.
The fact that the country could find resonance in what I was doing and became a partner in my journey."She further shared an anecdote on how fans could relate to her and the character, "And many people I remember used to meet me off-screen and say 'You're exactly the same as you are on screen.' It was a conscious decision to make sure that I did not differ in my approach to life as a character.
I wanted to play the character as close to what I was in real life.
So that when people met me I did not come across as an element of surprise."When asked about the show running as a hit for a decade and now that there was a rerun, Smriti quipped, "It's an emotion that will resonate over generations because there have been many projects which have been superhits and people claiming I am number one.
Kyunki was number one for a decade.
So when there was a rerun for the show, people asked me if I was happy, I said yes, I am very happy but please remember that none of the actors all the production houses get for the reruns."Despite heavy rush of devotees, former actress Smriti Irani visits Lalbaugcha Raja to seek blessings of Lord GaneshaSmriti shared what has been her biggest takeaway from the show, "For me, the biggest takeaway is the audience that has stayed with me for 3 to 4 generations and the second is the friendships I had with my technician crews."Smriti further opened up about why she had resumed working 3 days after giving birth to her baby, Smriti shared, "Because Ive been poor.
If youve been poor, you take every opportunity to work and a poor person will never let go of any opportunity that can help them earn money.
If you tell someone like me to let go of their daily wages, they would have a heart attack.
Poverty creates pressure and I was very clear that I would not let that pressure overwhelm me."
